Hey all,
So if you have been reading my posts lately you might have read about the fact that winter has/is taken its toll on Kirby’s socialization a bit! He now does a bit of a warning bark if he sees dogs usually now, and will keep barking unless they just ignore him and go up to him,or I push him to see them anyways, then he is fine. Either way though it is a bit annoying and makes most people not want to bring their dogs to see him if he does it so I am trying to work on it right now. I decided while I am trying to figure out what doggy school is best for him to go to, in regards to help with his socialization, we would go again to Doggy Daycamp. I don’t take him there a lot because it is about a half hour drive from my place, so this was only his second time. We got up early, and Kirby was already ready to go as he jumped on my….uh face, as usual to let me know, as usual he was up so I should be too! He slept most of the ride there. When we got there he was nervous, as you can see with the tail between his legs in the video, but when we picked him up he was all good, just really missed us as you can see, lol.
Here is the video, made just for you guys! I was nervous so I repeated myself and made weird facial expressions….:S I tried to keep it as short as possible for ya guys too,so sorry if its a bit choppy.
I also wanted to thankĀ Zena for nomination for inspirational blogger, you are too cool Raffles and Zena that I had to put you guys back in it! As being nominated you have to continue the process so that is what I did below!
(sorry it is so small!) which means you guys get this…..
Next I’d love if you guys could check outĀ Grimm’s newly adopted brother’s latest story. Grimm’s ma rescued pretty much just recently this little puppy, and the story is quite amazing. She is quite amazing!
P.s- Does anybody know how I can send a link to everyone who I listed above to my post here so they see they were nominated. I have seen it done to me so just wondering!
And can’t forget its Mischief Monday! Thanks Snoopy, click button below to join!

Adorable video! I wonder if winter is what trips off my pup’s separation anxiety. He is spending some time in Florida with his grandparents and completely happy as a clam with the warmth. Is it common for dogs to be affected by the weather changes?
Yea, I never knew about it either till I saw other bloggers on here talking about how their dog was getting winter anxiety. His is I’m not sure because it is winter, more than because he hasn’t seen any dogs lately due to winter, therefore he hasn’t gotten much socialization in. I hope you noticed I nomed you for the inspirational blogger award up top!:)
They’ve never sent me to obedience school (I’d fail) or doggy day care. I can’t be stressed so They take me on trips-I’m good in hotel rooms.
Yea, that is like my brother Poe, he wouldn’t be able to handle doggy daycare, but I told him all about it” – Kirby. Hey kyla hope you noticed I nomed you for inspirational blogger award!
I really appreciate it and thank you. I don’t do awards but I love your thoughts.
Oh, Kirby did pretty well at Doggy Day Camp and I just love how excited he was to see you at the end of the day!
Yea heehee its so cute to see him him whine all ready to go home! Oz, hope you saw that I nominated you for the inspirational blogger award up top. I’m not sure if people can see it so hopefully you guys can notice!
Next time Kirby you will feel more confident

Hey Kirby! Thanks for nominating me for Inspirational Blogger…..I have that one but I sure do love being nominated no matter what – makes me feel ten feet tall and considering how short I am, that’s great! I’m glad you went to doggy day care and had a chance to be with doggies. Too bad you don’t have neighbors you could have “play dates” with too! Kitty Hugs, Sammy
Well, the more the merrier! And Sammy, for a cat, I think your perfect size, intimidating when need be yet inviting!
WOW….what a NICE compliment Kirby!!!!
Kitty Hugs, Sammy
Kirby! You were very brave at Daycamp! When I go get my nails cut, I can hear the dogs at PoochPlay downstairs and it scares me and makes me shiver. I am proud of you.
Love and licks,
Cupcake
Hiya Kirbster pal…Mom & I just watched your video together..Doggie daycare looks like fun…you have your own Team White Dog there…My favorite part is at the end where you were talking to the camera…I got very excited cause it was like you were woofing just to me…*snoogles*
“I was Gizzy! I was saying, Gizzy..get me out of here!” -Kirby
I’m sorry Kirby has been funny about other pups lately! And I am glad he had a great time at camp!
You know, I tend to get a little too excited about other dogs. I just want to play so badly, but mom wanted me to learn to stay calm. So she taught me how to “look”. If there is a dog around, or some birds I like to chase, or a person with a sort of scary thing like a lawn mower, mom points at the thing and says “look.” So I look at it and then I look back at her and get a treat
This way I look at the exciting/scary thing and then I refocus on mom and a good thing (treat!) happens when I stay relaxed about it all. I was thinking maybe “looking” might help Kirby too?
I wish Kirby had that problem where he was too friendly opposed to being too shy, but I can see how that would be a problem when you are coming across dogs you don’t know, who might not be so friendly, plus you know your kinda a big boy, so I can see you pulling your ma across the park in your excitedness! lol XD. After reading this, I have begun practicing the phrase “look” or “lookatme” with Kirby, fingers crossed he gets it as quick as you Blue!
So when my mom says “look” I will actually look around for other pups or something else that might be exciting/scary (she says “watch” if she wants me to look at her). I bet Kirby will figure it out in no time.
The trick is to have Kirby look at the other pup before he notices on his own and reward him right away before he has a chance to get nervous about the other dog. Use some really extra delicious treats too. At first you might even have to give him the treat right as he is noticing the other dog. This way he is still calm when he gets the treat; you want to reward him for being calm and not for being worried. Pretty soon he will notice other dogs and stay relaxed and refocus on you instead of focusing on them
Mom says this is way to “create a new pattern of behavior”…whatever that means?
My trainer used this to help his dog aggressive pup too, who you would never know was dog aggressive at all now!
Man, I wish i could just save this comment, “or pinterest” it in my head, I know Ill stick note it! I see now, that makes soo much sense, and common sense at that, not that I would have been able to figure it out without reading this XD. Will definitely be doing this thanks Blue! I was reading the dog whisperer book but not much in there about this issue, so really good to know!
I think you did a super great job on this video and it was a great idea. Kirby did really well! I don’t think Dakota would ever do well in a situation like that. he doesn’t love other dogs and I would be a little bit afraid to leave him in an off-leash situation. How did they say that Kirby did?
Sorry I took so long to reply, I was on a little hiatus for a couple days. They said he did well, but unlike last time where he was in there with all the dogs playing and going at it, this time he sat it out, and unlike last time where he was making lots of new friends, this time “he watched from the sidelines” so his little report says. I’m planning on taking him a bit more though if I can and hopefully getting him into a few classes, see if that helps a bit with his new shyness. I probably should have put this in my post, as Im pretty sure that was the initial point of my post…ahh, oh well lol
I sent Doggy to jail because we were traveling but also because he was developing a bad habit with white dogs, he would start barking and sorta get aggressive, he needed to pay some time behind bars.
Now he seems to be better, I’ll talk him again next month for another week to see if ge learns.
Congrats on the award.
That is so funny, Kirby has a thing if they are big black dogs, thats why I was so thrilled to see two in there with him. Funny how they get preferences like that. I think maybe white dogs remind him of his litter mates or mother perhaps and himself. Its funny though because where I got him, they had a very nice calm big black dog….
Doggie day camp looks like fun. Congrats on the award too. You’re awesome.
Awww, it looks like Kirby had fun at doggy day care! And he’s got his own little gang! I bet they were plotting to take down the two big dogs. LOLOL
Tomorrow Gracie and Henri and I are going to a friends house to play with her poms. She just fenced in her yard so the dogs can run free. We are testing it out tomorrow. I’ll take video of that.
Okay so what is this award nomination and what do I have to do?
haha I know , I thought I went blind for a minute, it was the attack of the kirby’s they all looked so alike, lol i am off to check it out now!
Hey! Way cool video! You did great, well done! And it was lovely to see and hear you too
You have a fun day? You look like you did and you’ll be the most social dog in the neighbourhood at this rate! But if you really want to go socialising and learn good canine manners with your fellow pups lol no better place to learn than with the Pack! The original training ground
You’ll have no problem learning how to be sociable and how to behave with your kind! You also look very very cute in the video!
Kirby
“Me’s try my hardest just for you, I can only dream of one day being a big strong wolfie like the ones in your pack!..hm maybe someday!”-Kirby

What a lovely video< it's nice to see Kirby being able to play with other dogs!! Hopefully as it gets warmer you will meet more dogs on your walks!
Love Milo
Thanks Milo I hope!
What a fun video!
Thanks Daisy!
Animals need to be with their own kind also. It is very important the longer they do not have contact with other dogs the longer it will take to let them visit others again.
Love your video clip, well done. Trompie got excited when he heard Kirby talking.
Congratulations on your award and thank you so much for sharing it with me and Grimm! I really appreciate your kind words…it means a lot to receive such an excellent recommendation.
I’m very glad Kirby got to get out and make new friends at camp. Dog camp looks like a fun place and definitely somewhere I’d want to check out if I were a pooch!
Well of course, you definitely definitely deserve it! Usually I only get to post about articles already made or through a third party of a person as great as you saving a dogs life, so it makes it that much more special when I actually know them! , I am so happy he is in good hands and am intrigued where this adventure will go with him, and you guys!
Woohoo!! Congrats on your award and thanks so much for thinking of me, you’re just the sweetest!!
I love, love, love your video!! It’s really cool that you’re getting to make some new friends little buddy!! Your parents are awesome to take you there
Have fun,
Your pal Snoopy
“Thanks so much Snoops! We are really glad you like the video, well my ma does..I on the other hand could do without a camera pointing in my face thank you very much!” – Kirby
Thanks for thinking of me again Kirby – you are the best
I think Raffles and I might enjoy Doggy Day Care or Dog Camp, but it would be so exhausting minding the pup that I’m happy to socialize at the leash free every day.
Thatis true Zena, especially when the puppy is actually bigger then you! You certainly have your hands full, I mean you never see humans have to deal with babies twice the size of them, and they’re already a handful!
Awww, I don’t know who’s more adorable, you or Kirby. Thanks for the nomination. I have a page on my Blog I post these with a link back to you. Thanks Lea.
PS. You asked a ‘how to’: What you could do (if you want) is drop a message on a persons ‘About’ page and copy past the URL of this post with your message…or just let them find it here like I did.
Thanks Kelly for your advice on the how to, it will come in very handy!
“My ma is blushing at your nice comment, …even though clearly we all really know who is the most adorable here….its just obvious (me!)…but it’s okay we’ll let her think she has a chance…..” – Kirby
Well done Kirby – you were very brave, we would’ve been scared about going to daycamp too BUT those other dogs looked real friendly and they seemed real happy to meet you. You sure were happy to see your mom though *BOL*
Thank you so very much for our award – we just love it!!
Your mom asked about creating links – what you need to do is highlight the name / word that you want to create the link with then go to the little link icon on the toolbar at the top of the post page and then type in the address that you want to link to (we usually copy it before hand so that we can just paste it in) the name / word should then become underlined and change colour – let us know if it works or if you need more help!
Wally & Sammy
Thanks so much Wally and Sammy, your technical help sure was useful, we appreciate it soooo much! How did you guys get to be so smart!
*BOL*…we have a clever dad who shows us how to do stuff!
How cool that you got to go out and play with some other pups Kirby. It’s great that your mom is trying to get you nice and socialized. And congratulations on your award guys!
Kirby, you have a few comments from me. I couldn’t leave any yesterday, had to download the new firefox. Now they have all popped up..BOL XX0XX
Mollie and Alfie
I miss going to daycare *sigh*
“Rumpy, why you no go no more?” – Kirby
Thanks so much for the lovely award and footprint:-)
Hi Kirby, Thank you so much for nominating me for that next inspiring blog award! Cute idea with the footprint! Good luck on your socializing training. Sometimes it is the leash that makes it hard on walks. Emma
It really is the leash…it’s the weirdest thing, he will go to the dog park and just get right in there and start playing with whoever he meets, he sees them on the leash, and he starts doing his nervous bark, will have to work on that!
Well done Kirby and thank youuuuuuuu for our award xxx
That was a great video. It looks like Kirby was having fun! Kirby is a youngster right? He just may need to mature a bit. The best thing you can do for him is what you are doing and also take him to obedience class or some other sort of structured training. Not only is it a great place to get dogs used to being around other dogs, but it has structure. A lot of dogs do better with some structured training in their lives. Our Storm is living proof of that.
Oh and not a pet store training. Look for an obedience club in your area. Those usually have the best trainers in my opinion.
Thanks for the tip, after seeing how your lovelies behave I will definitely be listening to your advice!:) I agree obedience class is probably the best idea:)
Awww that is sooo awesome! Love the video. He’s such a lil cutie! I hope doggy day care helps him. And congrats on your award! Woot!
Thanks so much Bren! Off to hop over to your bloggy now and check it out! Sorry I took so long to reply, my wordpress has been acting up a bit!
That’s a great video! It’s the first time I’ve heard Kirby’s voice… I was so excited, like it ;o)
its down to a little bit of isolation mixed with excess energy
Yes I agree, although he is never isolated, ever, but to maybe other dogs besides Poe yea
I know you already have the award but I nominated you again anyways because there’s only a few of you guys on WordPress I feel I can relate to and enjoy reading about. Thank you for nominating me =) http://xxxcxixxx.wordpress.com/2013/01/09/inspirational-blogger-my-nominations/
Kirby is really cute! Love his name too. I saw you were nominated for an award from Undead Ahead. I love following her and wanted to check out your blog too! I have a chihuahua named Daisy that is by baby. I need to post more pics ASAP.
hope you are having a nice week.
Aww thanks Jenny, and nice to meet you! I was also planning on popping over to your blog, seeing you were nominated
A chihuahua…..named Daisy sounds like the cutest little thing ever. Would love to see her. I know a Daisy but she happens to be a huge Rottweiler/Doberman mix quite a contrast to a little chihuahua haha!
Awesome & Congratulations on the award! Kirby just needs a little behavior modification and summer to come soon !
I’m sorry I’m late Kirby, Lexie use to go to a big outside Doggy Day care she loved it. Lexie was so full of energy that running and playing was the only way to wear her out she loved being with the other dogs. I want to thank you so much for the award. We have not been posting much with Mom sick so we are very honored to get this award.
Have lots of fun at daycare:-)
Hey guys.
I hope your mom gets better soon, and of course! I meant to pass my last award along to you actually, but it totally slipped my mind, so glad there was this one! You guys should get your mom to take a pic of you one day playing with all the other doggies, me and Kirby would love to see that! Hugs to out teddy-bear friends, lea and kirby
Oh Kirby, you look like you had a good time…I thinks you centainly were happy when your Moms came to pick you up! I loved the video!! I thinks your Moms did a great job (ya know it’s hard to hold a doggie on a string AND a camera at the same time and NOT get a bit of a shaky video!)
I hope you get to do it again soon!
Kisses,
Ruby
pees: THANKS bunches for the awardie!! You are such a sweet pups!
“Your welcome Rubs! I was soooo happy when she came to get me, I swear if she left me there for one more minute those nice people runnin that joint would heard some howls they never heard before!” – Kirby
Dear lea & Kirby are you not receiving my comments or you upset about something? I know your very busy but it has been awhile since we spoken and I know there has been confusion involving posting and comments. Just a bit bewildered ! Nancy
Don’t worry I got them
I just took a little hiatus from the blog for a couple days but am back! You are right I have received lots of good input from you guys on here and I think I will be signing him up for obedience class so he gets to meet and learn how to greet fellow doggies:)
He was so pleased to see you! He’ll probably be more relaxed about going in next time.
I hope so! I will be taking him back soon, when he first went he was very very sociable and I was told he played the whole time, yet this time he sat on the sidelines, so I think I will just have to up my game till summer comes along and enroll him in some obedience/behavioral classes.
Awww, sweet Kirby we could tell you were so happy to see your mama when she came back to get you. We hope you had lots of fun at doggie day camp. Hugs and nose kisses
Beautifullllll Blog / site

Lovely

nice to meet you too!:)
Hey Kirby, Jet here. Hi Miss Lea.
How brave little dude… what a great adventure you had. At first, we almost could not keep us with all the adorable petite white K9s! Guess you missed Mom, huh? Bet you had a blast and made lots of new friends. Well done.
Kirby is sooooo cute. That was very brave of him to be with all those other dogs. Some dog school would really help his socialization. Looks like you were so glad to see your Mom too. Take care. Good to meet you.
thanks so much!
I love, love, love how you passed the award along! Very creative and thanks!
We know what you mean about the winter doldrums, but I know you had fun at doggy daycare. It’s always nice to see Mom though. I know…..
“Thaaaat was a loooong day, let me tell ya!”-Kirby
Cute blog!!!! I’m following you now!!! A big kiss
Kirby, you are adorable! I have never been to doggy daycare before, but we usually have a houseful of animals here to keep my busy.
Heehee, that must be fun to have all those guys to keep each other company!:) Thanks so much for checking us out!:)
